Theatre Royal hosts over 200 performing arts delegates for ‘Waterford Gathering’

Theatre Forum, Ireland’s membership body for the professional performing arts, recently chose Waterford for its annual industry ‘Gathering’, with over 200 performing arts professional descending upon the city for two days of conversation, provocation, and inspiration.

Theatre Royal was a hive of activity for Day 1, which brought artists and arts workers from arts centres, production companies, festivals and funders together for a ‘Green Arts Forum’ and a keynote talk from playwright, composer and lyricist Michael R. Jackson, one of Time Magazine’s 100 most influential people of 2022.

The evening concluded with a specially curated artistic adventure through the city’s Viking Triangle led by young musicians from Music Generation Waterford’s ‘Screw Loose’, which included performances from Curious State Theatre Company, dance artist Rachel Ní Bhraonáin and Blackwater Valley Opera Festival.
