JIM NOLAN BACK AT THEATRE ROYAL
Oh Mona is a god-send at any bereavement……at the undertakers they say she has a great way with the corpses.’
Acclaimed Waterford playwright and director Jim Nolan makes a welcome return to Theatre Royal Waterford 12th-14th May to direct ‘Happy Birthday Dear Alice’, Bernard Farrell’s much loved and hilarious comedy on the savage politics of a dispersed, suburban family to commit their aging yet resilient mother to the uncertain fate of a nursing home.
‘Happy Birthday Dear Alice’ is at once a deeply moving love story and a ruthlessly comic dissection of Irish family life from the master of dark comedy.
Produced by Four Rivers Theatre Company, the play features a stellar cast that includes Catherine Byrne (Fair City); Mark Lambert (Breakfast on Pluto) and Mark Fitzgerald (Vikings: Valhalla).
“Red hot play…a huge hit”: Irish Independent
“Lovely, funny and touching”: The Irish Times
“Anyone who has ever had a mother will enjoy this show”: John Creedon
