About the event

TOUCAN

TOUCAN is the music project of pop, funk and soul artist, Conor Clancy.
After the release of their debut Single and EP, they were chosen to perform at Other Voices 2018, had sold out shows all across Ireland and in London, they were asked to be special guest for Nile Rodgers & CHIC in Dublin, and played a support set in London’s Royal Albert Hall for the Average White Band. They’ve performed live on BBC Radio London for the Robert Elms show, as well as receiving radio play from RTÉ 2fm, RTÉ Radio 1, Redfm, WLRfm, and many more.
The Summer of 2019 was packed full of festivals where the act was featured at Knockanstockan, Kaleidoscope, Love Sensation and Electric Picnic, the latter of which was reviewed by Hot Press as ‘a triumphant debut…hoards of teenage devotees shouting back every word’. The momentum continued throughout the year, with a show in New York City, a UK & Ireland tour, performances at the Cork International Jazz Festival and Coughlan’s Live Festival, signing with Free Trade Booking Agency, the release of a second EP and they finished the year with a performance at The Academy, Dublin.
After two years of restrictions, TOUCAN began playing their first shows again in 2022, notably on James Blunt’s UK & Ireland Tour, performing at London’s Kew Gardens, Dublin’s Iveagh Gardens and The Botanic Gardens in Belfast. Conor was also booked to be the opening act on the UK tour of St. Paul & The Broken Bones.
‘Expect to see them everywhere’ – REMY‘The brightest sound coming out of Ireland in a long, long time. Absolutely brilliant stuff” – Shay Byrne, RTÉ Radio 1‘It’s got soul and funk coming out of every orifice…a hugely promising debut’ – JOE.ie‘Reminiscent of the likes of Stevie Wonder complete with riffing brass sections and memorable choruses.’ – The Thin Air
