A Mass for Peace is a powerful and compelling account of the descent into, and terrible consequences of, war. It is a major choral work which uses both sacred and secular texts. The duration is just over one hour.

“Notable Works” was set up in 2017 for the purpose of staging large-scale choral works in Waterford.

Performances to date have included Handel’s Messiah in December 2017 and December 2018.

In 2019 we performed parts 1 and 2 of Bach’s Christmas Oratorio.

In 2020 we were prevented from pursuing our objectives by the COVID pandemic and in December 2021 presented a “virtual concert”, featuring highlights from Messiah.

In 2023 we presented one of Haydn’s best loved works – his Oratorio “The Creation”.

For the “The Armed Man” we will have a choir of over 60 singers and an orchestra under the direction of Dr Kevin O’Carroll.
