Playing for Your Audience – Performance Training Course
Theatre Lovett will present their ‘Playing for Your Audience’ performance training course at Theatre Royal Waterford, 19th – 23rd June 2023.
This unique course is for aspiring and established adult artists and practitioners of all levels residing in the South East region.
Theatre Lovett’s Joint Artistic Director, Louis Lovett, will lead a week-long training course on performance for audiences of all ages, on the Theatre Royal stage, exploring a wide range of techniques through play and improvisation.
DETAILS
The course explores practical performance techniques for theatre makers interested in creating work for audiences of all ages and will cover:
– Bridging the divide between the performer and the audience.
– Your physical presence and how to arrive at a state of calm and open energy.
– How the performer’s focus can become the audience’s focus.
– How to be BOLD in your play and how to FAIL with aplomb.
– Chorus work – moving and working as a team.
Muireann Ahern, Theatre Lovett’s Joint Artistic Director, will also discuss European models of theatre practice for young audiences and age-appropriate work.

Participation Fee: €200.
Who can apply: Performing arts artists and practitioners of all levels residing in Waterford; actors, dancers, movement practitioners, choreographers, directors, singers etc.

Artist bursaries: Theatre Royal is delighted to offer a limited number of artist bursaries for this course , contact tickets@theatreroyal.ie for further information. Places are limited. We will assess applications and offer places based on suitability for the course.
