Othello by Night

A once-off, evening performance of Theatre Royal’s Shakespeare Review of Othello is now available to theatre lovers of all ages.

Directed by Liam Meagher and performed by a cast of 5, this ‘Review’ is a carefully edited sequence of key-moments in Othello, punctuated with interjections from Shakespeare enthusiast and poet Edward Denniston.

Edward will explore some of the play’s uncertainties, questions, and tensions, focusing on the ways in which the dramatic effect of character, language and action provoke in us feelings that we recognise as both ageless and searingly familiar.

While the annual Shakespeare Review is generally produced for a student audience, this year an exclusive 90 minute performance, with live, descriptive interjections, will be created for, and presented to, a public audience of all ages for the first time.
