ONE MORNING IN AUGUST

FIRST CLASS AND COACH

A four-piece band based in Ballydehob, West Cork, Ireland.

Formed in 2017, performing live since 2018.

Debut album released February 2020. Second album releasing April 2023 on FIFA Records.

Seeking to push the boundaries of the indie-rock genre the sound has a variety of colour…reverb-drenched piano, distorted, squalling guitars, driving bass and muscular drums, all punctuated by uncompromising German & English vocals.

ONE MORNING IN AUGUST

One Morning in August are a Southeast of Ireland based indie band, featuring, John F. Phelan on Guitars and vocals along with Stephen T. Byrne on drums.

With a sound that channels heart felt visceral hooks with beautiful, layered melodies and harmonies there is little wonder that their self-released eponymous debut album received widespread critical acclaim and a massive response from both regional and national radio.

It was released on August 28th, 2020 (one morning in August in fact!) and was album of the week on Tom Dunne’s show on Newstalk FM, Marty Whelan’s on RTÉ Lyric FM and Martin Bridgeman’s on KCLR FM.

It made numerous top 20 albums of 2020 lists and songs from the album were listed in many songs of the year lists.

In late 2020 the band signed to Cork based label FIFA Records (Frank and Walters, Emperor of Ice Cream, First Class and Coach, Driven Snow, Cat Dowling, Klubber Lang, Trouble Pilgrims etc) and they are currently in the process of recording their second album with producer David Ayers which will be released on FIFA Records in 2023.

They have released four singles to date on FIFA, two of which were playlisted for two weeks on RTÉ Radio 1.

Their next single ‘Local Minor Superstar’ will be released on May 5th.
