FINTAN SCANLON

Fintan Scanlon is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and songwriter from Waterford in the south-east of Ireland. His musical education started at the age of 4 on violin and piano, while also participating in various choirs.

By his teenage years his interest had expanded to folk, rock, blues, and indie. He began to teach himself guitar which opened up a whole new world, branching into song writing and developing his ear by working out melodies from the radio.

He went on to complete a B.A. and later an M.A. in Music, all the while balancing his love for classical and choral styles with more modern genres. He is as comfortable as an orchestral player or a choral conductor as he is in a band and this melting pot of genres forms the basis of his own original compositions.

As a live musician, Fintan has performed in countless settings and styles. He has played with a number of local bands over the years, ranging from singer/songwriter duos to 6-piece groups and everything in between.

He has been involved in several record releases as both a singer, arranger, and instrumentalist. His background in choral and orchestral music heavily influences his own style, building multiple layers to create a unique brand of atmospheric alternative rock.

His debut EP, “Work in Progress” was released in April 2023. Visit www.fintanscanlon.com for details of gigs, streaming links, and images.

SUPERSTAR NOMADS

Superstar Nomads never met a genre they didn’t like. The Waterford-based 6-piece adopt a collaborative song writing approach with each member drawing from disparate backgrounds and influences to arrive at unique and unexpected musical fusions. Not content to stay in one lane too long, their sound veers from catchy pop to rock, blues to ballads, funk to experimental to all-out bonkers.

They’re a band forged of contradictions, whose mission is to “sprinkle a bit of nomad” on the mundane and see what takes root.

After an unusually long hiatus Superstar Nomads are re-energised, writing new material and planning a return to the studio later in 2023.

In the meantime, several live performances are in the works and their debut recording, “There’ll Be Bricks”, is out on all streaming services on May 12th.
